Located a hop-skip-and-a-jump from beautiful Cable Beach, our hostel offers a unique blend of local culture and backpacker spirit.
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Bar Manager to oversee the operations of our hostel bar and overall hostel. An ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the backpacker lifestyle having lived and loved it themselves, and must currently reside in or have lived in Broome or the Kimberley region, and have at least one Kimberley wet season under their belt. French, Italian, Spanish and German language skills would be an absolute plus!
Key Responsibilities:
- Bar Management: Oversee the daily operations of the bar, ensuring a welcoming and energetic atmosphere for our guests.
- Stock Management: Order, maintain, and conduct regular stocktakes of bar inventory to ensure adequate supply levels and minimise waste.
- Staff Management: Lead and manage a team of bar staff and cleaners, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Event Coordination: Organise and host engaging events and activities that enhance the guest experience and promote social interaction.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, addressing guest inquiries and resolving issues promptly and professionally.
- Reservations Management: Utilise online reservation software and point-of-sale systems efficiently. Experience with Booking.com, Hostelworld, and Agoda is essential.
- Financial Management: Monitor bar revenue and expenses, manage budgets, and report on financial performance.
- Understand and adhere to Liquor Licensing Act and Regulations, particular to the Kimberley region.
Requirements
- Local Expertise: Must have lived or currently live in Broome or the Kimberley region and have experienced at least one wet season in the Kimberley Region.
- Backpacker Lifestyle: Must have lived a backpacker lifestyle and have a deep understanding of the needs and expectations of our guests.
- Technical Proficiency: Fluent in online reservations software and point-of-sale systems.
- Booking Agent Experience: Proficient in managing contract bookings through platforms such as Booking.com, Hostelworld, and Agoda.
- Event Planning: Proven ability to organise and host successful events.
- Inventory Management: Experience in ordering, maintaining, and conducting stocktakes of bar inventory.
