Job Description - Hotel Duty Manager - Rewarding Work

About Us:

The Metropolitan Spring Hill is a 55-room property located in the heart of Spring Hill. We boast a chic little outdoor café onsite that trades 5 days a week servicing our hotel guests and surrounding businesses

 

About the Role:

The Hotel Duty Manager will lead the successful execution of all Front Office & Hotel Operations as well as training and development for hotel team members. You will strive to continually improve the guest experience and maximize the financial performance of the hotel in direct line with the General Manager & Company Directors. As the leader of the hotel, you will be proactive within the operation and ensure that standards and procedures are always being followed and adhered to. This role reports directly to the General Manager

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflict situations through strategic negotiation
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the General Manager whilst maintaining the strictest confidentiality in all matters
  • Develop strategic goals and plans to prioritise, organise and complete your work
  • Manage communication between OTA’s, managing commission reports and all revenue channels through Siteminder
  • Produce reports, analyzing data, and preparing presentations, and briefs when required including occupancy, productivity reports, profit & loss statements, and both weekly and end of month financial reports
  • Coordinate and oversee side projects as allocated by the General Manager or Company Directors 
  • Perform shift postings, balancing and finalise banking reports with use of cash floats, EFTPOS and Guestpoint systems
  • Provide operational support to the General Manager
  • Manage all aspects of the front office department, tending to the guests and exceeding their expectations 
  • Be a dynamic and approachable leader by empowering and supporting your team
  • Supervise staffing levels to ensure that guest services, operational needs and financial objectives are met
  • Be an expert on the hotel and the surrounding area, know it inside and out to exceed guest expectations
  • Security checks of the guest floors, hotel and grounds
  • Light maintenance and nightly housekeeping duties may at times be required
  • Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers, anticipating their needs and enabling future return clientele
  • Drive loyalty through existing and potential new business

 

The Successful Candidate Must Meet The Following Criteria: 

  • Applicable Tertiary qualification in the Hotel sector or hospitality industry e.g.; ( Hospitality & Tourism Management qualification, Hotel Management qualification)
  • Have working rights within Australia
  • Minimum 3 years’ management experience within the hotel sector or hospitality industry in a managerial position
  • Experience with Guestpoint property management system or similar
  • Experience with Siteminder hotel channel manager
  • Available to work, on occasion, overnight shifts, 24 hour rotational roster
  • Outstanding organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collectively with others
  • Strong ability to problem solve and deliver solution-based outcomes
  • Can anticipate gaps, pivot and be flexible to ensure deadlines are met
  • Strong financial acumen with a track record of driving profitability and operational targets
  • A great positive attitude, enthusiastic, a people person who enjoys providing quality support. 
  • Self-motivated, driven and energized in a fast-paced environment
  • Related tertiary or hospitality training or qualifications are desirable
