Job Description - HR Adviser, Wellbeing and Professional Standards Case Management

This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the PM&C delegate.

Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years.

A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment, however this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.

Professional Standards and Wellbeing team manages PM&C’s Workplace Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS), Wellbeing case management and Professional Standards case management, incorporating underperformance, probation and complaints and grievance management. We are a collaborative and dynamic team that works in partnership with key stakeholders across the agency to prevent harm, promote wellbeing, and support the integrity, performance and engagement of PM&C’s workforce.

What you will do

We are looking for an experienced Wellbeing and/or Professional Standards Case Manager to join our team, to support the wellbeing and integrity of the PM&C workforce.

In this role you will work as part of a small team to manage complex people concerns that may include health and wellbeing, workers compensation, reasonable adjustment, complaints and grievance resolution, Code of Conduct investigations and probation and underperformance case management. You will have the opportunity to engage in a range of initiatives and projects to support wellbeing, performance and integrity in the workplace.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work independently and with high-level direction to deliver case management services for PM&C.
  • May support the Workplace Respect Officer Network, and deliver training and coaching to PM&C stakeholders.
  • Engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes for People Branch and PM&C.
  • Draft, review and maintain policies, procedures and strategies to deliver outcomes for People Branch and the broader Department
  • Collaborate across People Branch with HR colleagues to design and develop practical and innovative HR solutions, in line with legislation and best practice.
  • Manage project work under the limited direction of your manager.
  • Draft reports, briefs and updates for the Executive
  • Provide high quality, accurate and consistent advice, maintaining high-level customer service and relationships with stakeholders.

A merit pool may be established and used to fill the same or similar vacancies for 18 Months from the date of advertising.

What you will bring

We are seeking a motivated and experienced HR professional with demonstrated capability in rehabilitation and/or complaints and underperformance case management.

Your ability to understand and interpret complex people issues, and apply relevant legislation and Australian Public Service (APS) employment frameworks will be highly regarded.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Familiarity with the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988, and its application in the Commonwealth jurisdiction, or the ability to gain familiarity quickly and effectively; AND/OR
  • Familiarity with the Public Service Act 1999 and its application to rehabilitation case management, underperformance, complaints and grievances and the Code of Conduct, or the ability to gain familiarity quickly and effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience in complex case management, either Rehabilitation, underperformance, Complaints Management and/or Code of Conduct investigations.
  • Sound judgement, strong attention to detail and the flexibility to deal with competing priorities
  • strong verbal and written communication skills, which will allow you to provide a high level of customer service and advice, and to engage effectively with stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels of seniority
  • well-developed organisational abilities
  • a people-centric approach to their work, by tailoring advice and solutions to our client’s needs
  • the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and self-directed.

Investigation qualifications and/or experience will be highly regarded but are not essential.

Eligibility


  • Under section 22(8) of the , employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing. At PM&C to be eligible for this position you should be an Australian Citizen at the closing date of application , unless exceptional circumstances apply.
  • The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.
  • The successful candidate will be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check, and will normally be subject to a six-month probation period if new to the APS or has not yet completed their probation period elsewhere in the APS.
