Job Description - HR Business Partner (Maternity Leave Cover)

About Kurri Kurri Community Services (KKCS)
KKCS is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering people through their potential and well-being. With over 200 staff and volunteers, KKCS serves the Kurri Kurri community and surrounding areas.
Funded through aged care, NDIS, commercial and private models, they provide:

  • Aged Care and NDIS coordination, clinical, and in-home services
  • Commercial services in ground maintenance and cleaning
  • Home modifications for emerging needs
  • Out of School Hours services
  • Youth and family support programs

Based in the historic 120-year-old “Store” in Kurri Kurri, KKCS also offers community supports like service referrals, a food and clothing shack, a kids' gym and a base for groups such as the Men’s Shed and community garden.
  
About the Role:
KKCS are seeking an experienced and reliable People, Safety and Culture Manager to join our team for a 3-month maternity leave cover. This role involves supporting the existing HR and WHS functions, providing escalation support, and offering guidance to ensure the seamless operation of these critical areas. Your leadership will be instrumental in upholding our organisational standards and supporting our mission to deliver exceptional community services.
 
About You!

  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to provide clear guidance and support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with staff at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in HR (Employment HERO) and WHS software systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Sharepoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to implement change management methodologies

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification in HR, Business Administration, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior HR or WHS role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR and WHS policies and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of workplace culture development and employee engagement strategies.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a not-for-profit or community services environment.
  • Current membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., Australian Human Resources Institute, Safety Institute of Australia).
  • Certification in quality management frameworks, or experience with ISO Quality Audits.
