Job Description

The Role (6 month contract, Part-time 2 days)

Covering a period of extended parental leave, you will be the primary point of contact for staff in our Perth office (c. 50). You will support the Perth office with a range of generalist HR activities, specifically employee relations, culture building, recruitment, and other office based initiatives. There will also be project opportunities such as Graduate Recruitment for Perth (new programme).

Office Culture and Employee Engagement

  • Work with office administrator and social committee on events ensuring good participation and engagement. 
  • Seek feedback/act as a trusted advisor on employee experience and address any concerns as they arise.
  • Support legal assistants including advising on interpersonal and process issues and team cover for leave/busy periods. 
  • Support national diversity and inclusion events locally.
  • Improve connections in the office: present ideas for approval and help drive activities around health and wellbeing; relationship building; and collaboration.

Employee Relations

  • Advise and coach staff and Partners in dealing with conflicts and other concerns.
  • Support individuals with process/policy questions or challenges.
  • Mediate interpersonal issues or work challenges to find win-win solutions.

Recruitment

  • Manage recruitment for the office (generally 1-2 roles at any one time)
  • Research and consider recruitment of graduates for the Perth office, initiating/co-ordinating recruitment as/when required with support from HR Co-ordinator (Melbourne based).
  • Manage the on-boarding experience for new hires with support from HR Co-ordinator (approx. 1 per month)
  • Advise Partners/managers on options and provide ongoing support for resourcing including liaison with the rest of the HR team/Resourcing Consultant.

Desired Skills and Experience

What are we looking for?

To be successful in this role, you will have progressive HR experience (around 4 years), ideally from a professional services environment, and an interest in culture change and people experience.

Ideally, we are also looking for someone who is/has:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (preferred but not essential)
  • Sound knowledge of contemporary HR practices
  • High level of competence in dealing with all employee relations matters
  • Ability to liaise with people at any level and build relationships quickly
  • Strong professional communication (both written and verbal)
  • Proven ability to manage projects and deliver outcomes
  • Action-orientated and meets deadlines
  • Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality
