Job Description - HR Lead, SSHR Bathurst


 


At the NSW Department of Education, we educate and inspire lifelong learners – from early childhood, through schooling to vocational education and training.


 


 



  • Ongoing Full-Time opportunity with a driven and high-performing team

  • Located in Bathurst, offering flexible working arrangements with mandatory office presence for business requirements and training.

  • Salary ranges from $113,574 to $125,720 p.a. plus superannuation and annual leave loading


 


 


About the role


 


As the Human Resources Lead, you are responsible for managing and optimising payroll systems, workflows and technologies to ensure efficient delivery of payroll services. Through strong technical leadership, you will drive continuous improvement and:


 



  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes and systems.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance service delivery

  • Deliver comprehensive report to support informed decision-making to stakeholders.

  • Drive the adoption of business reforms through effective stakeholder engagement.

  • Build and strengthen team capabilities by cultivating accountability and continuous learning.

About you


 


You are a proven people leader with technical payroll expertise and experience delivering process improvements within a large complex organisation. You bring a wealth of knowledge on payroll related processes, legislation and compliance. You also demonstrate:


 



  • Strong analytical skills to interpret payroll data and provide strategic insight

  • Positive leadership and ability to guide a team of high performers

  • Deep understanding on integrated systems and driving improvements

  • Effective stakeholder engagement and balance competing priorities and varying expectations

  • Proactiveness and awareness of emerging trends and polices or legislation reforms impacting payroll.



 


Essential requirements of the role



  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or Business Administration or a relevant discipline, or demonstrated successful experience in stakeholder/customer engagement in a Shared Services/Payroll environment.

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

Renewal is not required after the WWCC expires, as long as you remain in a non–child-related role. Employer obligations only apply while the WWCC is valid.


 


Candidates must have Australian work rights (citizens, permanent residents, New Zealand citizens or a valid work visa). Ongoing (permanent) roles are open to Australian citizens and permanent residents and New Zealand citizens, while temporary roles welcome applicants with a visa.
