The position

As the first hire of the newly created HR function within a "scale up" organisation with 40+ employees, the HR Advisor will report directly to the founder and CEO of Sustainable Salons to drive their people strategies. 

This role would suit an entrepreneurial style HR professional with proven experience working as the sole HR representative within a similar sized organisation and the confidence/ knowledge to provide guidance to the leadership team.

Key areas of responsibility

Strategic Leadership and Guidance:

• Provide strategic HR guidance to the senior leadership team.
• Build HR foundations including policies and processes.
• Coordinate with leadership team on organisational shifts, gauging HR implications and necessary actions.

Recruitment and Employee experience:

• Coordinate talent management cyclical activities 
• Oversee collaborations with external recruitment agencies and manage recruitment strategies in association with the executive and front line leadership teams.
• Manage the onboarding and integration for newcomers.

Employee Relations and Management:

• Partner with department heads to resolve employee issues
• Address employee inquiries and drive a culture of inclusion which celebrates employee diversity and promotes a sense of belonging.

Process Enhancement and Systems Management:

• Enhance employee experiences using advanced HRIS tools and ongoing refinement.
• Introduce and oversee HR metrics and provide regular reports to leadership.

• Significant experience in a similar HR Advisor role, with a focus on recruitment and employee relations. 
• Experience working within a similar sized "scale up" organisation with 30-50 employees and reporting directly to the founder/s of the business.
• Demonstrated prior experience and confidence managing employment matters such as disciplinary action, restructures, and performance management and consulting with the leadership team (as the sole HR representative)
• In-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulations in AU and NZ.
• Highly skilled in utilising data & technology to drive business performance and organisation efficiency.
• Knowledge of Employment Hero or another HRIS system (preferred)
• Experience in a sustainability-focused or eco-conscious industry is a plus.
