Living School IB Diploma Program Coordinator and Director of Academy (yrs 9-13)

Full time employment for an experienced and self-motivated exceptional educator who wants to introduce the DP program from scratch in a new progressive school situated on the Northern Rivers of NSW, Australia.

Living School is seeking an experienced and exceptional leader for high school (with experience teaching and leading the successful implementation of the IB Diploma Program). As a progressive school started in 2020, we have small classes and a focus on care. This position will have an emphasis on sustainability and regeneration. The position will be to lead the introduction and successful implementation of the IB DP program in an area where the IB has not been previously introduced.

Position Overview

Living School is seeking an experienced and exceptional leader for our Living Academy high school (with experience teaching and leading the successful implementation of the IB Diploma Program).

As a progressive school started in 2020, we have small classes and a focus on care. This position will have an emphasis on sustainability and regeneration, and will focus on our unique progressive pedagogy.

The position will be tasked and trusted to lead the introduction and successful implementation of the IB DP program in an area where the IB has not been previously introduced.

We are seeking a passionate, adaptable (malleable and flexible) and experienced educational leader to join our team as the IB Diploma Program Coordinator (IBDP Coordinator) and Director of Academy. This is a full-time leadership position playing a pivotal role in shaping the academic experience for students in Years 9 to 13.

Key Responsibilities:

  • IB Diploma Program Leadership:
    • Provide visionary leadership for the IB Diploma Program (DP), ensuring its effective implementation and continuous improvement.
    • Oversee all aspects of the DP, including curriculum development, assessment, teacher professional development, and student support.
    • Serve as the primary liaison with the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) on behalf of the school.
  • Director of Academy (Years 9-13):
    • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive academic program for Years 9 to 13, encompassing three pathways:
      • Academe – a rigorous academic program focused on the IB Diploma.
      • Enterprise – an innovative program fostering entrepreneurial thinking and skills, aligned with the IB DP Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) requirements.
      • Vocational – a program dedicated to developing trade skills for students pursuing apprenticeships and School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs).
    • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of dedicated teachers to deliver world-class instruction across all three pathways.
    • Oversee the operational management of Years 9 to 13, ensuring efficient and effective classroom environments, resources, and student support services.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with parents and the broader school community.
    • Foster a culture of excellence and high expectations within the academic team.
    • Stay abreast of current educational trends and best practices in the Australian and international contexts.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds a relevant postgraduate teaching qualification (e.g., Master of Education).
  • Is able and willing to teach/coordinate a subject/core in the DP while we establish the program.
  • Possesses extensive experience in leading a successful IB Diploma Program.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and management skills with a proven track record of building high-performing teams.
  • Has a passion for innovative and differentiated learning approaches.
  • Embraces a growth mindset and is committed to continuous professional development.
  • Possesses excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Enjoys collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Is prepared to live in the Northern Rivers area.

Salary & Conditions:

The salary for this position is linked to the Australian Industrial Relations Commission NSW (AISNSW) Multiple Enterprise Agreement – Schools (Hybrid).
