About Cardijn

About the Role 

Join our Inclusive Education Team as an Inclusive Education Assistant, where your role will be crucial in supporting students with intellectual disabilities and additional learning needs. You will work closely with individual students in the Inclusive Education area, which includes the Marist Centre and Lavalla portfolio, as well as in various classroom settings.

In this dynamic position, you will collaborate with classroom teachers to provide tailored support, helping students engage with their curriculum and fostering a nurturing learning environment. You may also accompany staff and students on excursions, further enriching their educational experiences.

You will work under the guidance of the Coordinators of the Inclusive Education Team, ensuring that each student's unique needs are met. If you are committed to making a positive impact and promoting inclusivity in education, we encourage you to apply and become a vital part of our team!

Key Responsibilities

The Inclusive Education Assistant will:

Provide support and supervision for the students with additional needs in the following ways:

• 1 to 1 support withdrawal


• 1 to 1 support in class


• group work withdrawal


• small groups in class

The role involves collaborating with teachers to suggest strategies and materials, accompanying students on excursions, providing specialised support in challenging subjects, assisting with personal care, communicating student progress to parents, and participating in professional development and meetings.

This role is vital for promoting an inclusive learning environment and ensuring all students receive the support they need.

Essential Selection Criteria 

• Active support for the Catholic ethos and the College Mission and Values. 

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 

• Authenticity: A genuine commitment and motivation towards working with diverse learners.


• Experience: Managing daily care plans, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), continence care, ensuring that each student’s needs are met with compassion and professionalism.


• Skills: Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organisational abilities.

Specific Requirements 

Be willing to acquire and maintain: 

• DHS Working With Children Check and Catholic Police Clearance to work in Catholic Education SA. 

• Current valid Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care certificate. 

• Applicable First Aid Certificate relevant to the role requirements. 


• Completed Certificate III or higher in Education Support
