Here’s where you come in

As an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll join a fast-paced environment that pushes you to achieve your best as you partner the business to deliver its products and improve its processes. 

You will be responsible for managing all aspects and components of IT infrastructure to include advanced server, network, storage, wireless, telecommunications, VMware or equivalent virtualization, backup and disaster recovery.

But you won’t do it alone. You’ll be supported every step of the way as part of a high achieving team.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

Infrastructure Deployment

  • Deployment / installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools.
  • Planning, identifying, controlling configuration items (CIs) and their interrelationships.
  • Administration of asset registers.
  • Applying the processes, systems and functions required to make new and changed services and features available for use. 
  • Maintain IT infrastructure, ensuring technology software and hardware is current and fit for purpose.
  • Agree and maintain IT infrastructure service level agreements with external IT providers, renewing and updating these agreements if necessary, on a periodic basis. 

Infrastructure Operations & Support

  • Administration of local Windows Server / Linux / Unix systems (storage, back-up)
  • Providing technical support to end-users and troubleshooting system issues.
  • Developing and maintaining system documentation, including SOPs, user manuals, and training materials
  • Respond to technical incidents and minimise the negative impact and restore service as quickly as possible, while ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of progress towards restoration
  • Investigate and resolve problems that have occurred or issues that could occur and document findings, workarounds and fixes
  • Implementation of changes to infrastructure according to defined procedures to document risks, implementation and back-out plans
  • Monitors, measures and reports on all installed systems infrastructure load, performance and security events
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure system compliance with regulatory requirements through participating in system validation activities, including IQ, OQ, and PQ testing

System Availability & Security

  • Maintaining system security and data integrity. Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies. Ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Ensuring the cyber security of computerized systems through the implementation of appropriate security measures.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance system performance and reliability through creating and updating tools for automation e.g. development of scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
  • Liaise with vendors to acquire new services, negotiate on existing services, design future technology roadmaps through adoption of new technologies
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Meets regularly with the IT team and vendors when applicable.
  • Understand and keep up with current technology as it pertains to the Life Sciences industry. 
  • Identify, recommend and assist with IT upgrades, enhancements or improvements.
  • Ability to project manage and communicate or escalate concerns and issues within the IT group in a timely manner.
  • Accountable for hardware and respective utilities/tools.

Therefore, you’ll need to have a positive mindset and be prepared to take ownership of your performance. 

You will also demonstrate the following:

  • 5+ years’ experience in similar role.
  • Experience in a Manufacturing and/or regulated environment.
  • Customer Service focused.
  • Experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows/UNIX/Linux based systems, administering Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 suite, VSphere and HyperV virtualized environments, network design, configuration and maintenance.
  • Exhibit a positive, constructive and decisive demeanor.
  • Demonstrate ownership to provide problem resolutions.
  • Ability to perform numerous tasks simultaneously and effectively while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (desired).
  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry (desired).
  • Experience in hardening of IT infrastructure environment and remediating Cyber Security risks (desired).
  • Experience in working with Process Control & Automation technologies e.g. DeltaV, PLC integration, etc (desired).
