JOB SUMMARY

The system engineer role assist Infrastructure Team Leader to develop, maintain and support the B2BE Global Systems and Networks Infrastructure, both B2BE production and internal environments.

OBJECTIVES OF ROLE:

• Provide effective and prompt customer (internal and external) support as and where required or in a disaster recovery scenario to meet published SLA’s of 99.9% system availability.
• Provide first, second and third level support to Operation Support team and Technical Support teams in aspects of  virtualisation platforms (currently VMware), the operating systems (predominantly Linux and some Windows), application software (Apache, Tomcat, Postfix etc.), containerisation (LXC, Docker, PodMan) and system hardware
• Manage and maintain the B2BE system infrastructure, system security, troubleshooting and rectifying systems failures as well as managing scheduled tasks and systems backup

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist the Infrastructure Team Leader to design, plan and implement B2BE system infrastructure including new environments and architecture and upgrades.
• Implementing, configuring and maintaining system & network hardware, software and SAN storage.
• Enhancing and maintaining production system backup/monitoring requirements, ensuring that processes and procedures are followed and updated from time to time according to business requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Possess or currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.
• 3 to 5 years in infrastructure engineering/system engineering;
• Familiar with the following technologies:
  • VMware
  • Linux (Ubuntu/Debian)
  • Containerisation
  • Storage(SAN,iSCSI,NFS,ZFS)
  • Applications(Apache, Tomcat, Postfix etc)
  • Networking (VLANs, routing, firewalls)
