Injection Moulding Technician

Caps and Closures is an Australian Manufacturer and Distributor of plastic packaging supplying the pharmaceutical, food, beverage, agricultural and other industries.

About the role:

Reporting to the Production Manager, the role's primary function is to coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with the Company’s values, cost, quality, and quantity specifications and policies.

• Set up and operate injection-moulding machines to cast products from thermoplastic materials.  Install dies on machine, according to work orders, specifications and standard processes 
• Set machine controls, regulating moulding temperature, volume of plastic, moulding pressure and time, according to knowledge of plastics and moulding procedures.
• Execute die and insert changes, colour changes and tool trials as allocated by the Production Manager
• Identify machinery that requires repair, optimisation, new parts or components and advise Production Manager for immediate action.
• Adhere to OH&S, Quality, and Food Safety guidelines to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
• Ensure product quality by fine-tuning processes, conducting visual inspections, adhering to weight and cycle time standards, and performing routine checks.
• Accurately complete all required paperwork, documentation, and record relevant data as per established procedures.
• Address minor maintenance or tooling issues that may arise during production, utilizing discretion and judgment within competency levels to resolve problems.
• Collaborate with relevant departments and team members to communicate equipment, moulding, quality, or production issues effectively.
• Maintain high levels of housekeeping in the work area.
• Actively participate in improvement activities and projects to enhance operational efficiency and product quality.
• Replenish raw materials during production and ensure machines are started up and shut down properly.
• Perform any additional duties as directed or required by the Production Manager to support operational needs.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Excellent understanding of injection moulding, manufacturing and support processes.

Minimum of 2 years experience operating injection moulding machines (preferred).

• Forklift license (preferred).
• Experienced in operating forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Excellent communication abilities.
