Job Description - Insolvency Analyst - QLD

About Mackay Goodwin

Mackay Goodwin is one of Australia’s fastest-growing advisory and insolvency firms, with over 100 professionals across Australia and the Asia Pacific. We are known for our high-volume, action-oriented approach and consistently strong appointment flow, delivering practical outcomes when businesses face critical moments.

We challenge traditional insolvency models while maintaining the core principles of a modern, high-performing workplace. Our teams are built to respond quickly, think commercially, and take ownership of complex matters.

Your Opportunity

Our Brisbane office is seeking an Insolvency Analyst who is ready to step into a role with genuine responsibility, variety, and exposure to complex appointments. You will work closely with Registered Liquidators and senior management across a broad range of corporate insolvency and restructuring matters, including Voluntary Administrations, Liquidations, Receiverships, Small Business Restructures and related appointments.

You’ll be joining a close-knit, high-performing team comprising three ASIC Registered Liquidators, an experienced manager, and a strong cohort of Intermediate and Senior analysts. This role suits someone who enjoys autonomy, accountability, and being trusted to manage matters end-to-end.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary with a rewarding monthly bonus structure, along with flexibility to work from home once training and onboarding are complete. You’ll have access to fast-tracked career progression and meaningful professional development, including mentoring from experienced practitioners and full financial support for relevant qualifications and memberships (CAANZ, CPA and ARITA), as well as paid study leave.

Your wellbeing is supported through access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), three additional wellbeing days each year, and paid parental leave. Our office is collaborative, supportive and high-performing, with regular team lunches, social events and celebrations that create a positive and engaging environment without losing focus on results.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on your level, responsibilities will include:

  • Managing assigned insolvency and restructuring engagements from commencement through to finalisation
  • Coordinating and supervising junior staff, including allocating tasks and reviewing work
  • Applying a strong understanding of insolvency legislation, case law and statutory obligations
  • Monitoring and meeting all statutory deadlines and compliance requirements
  • Conducting investigations, interviews with directors and bankrupts, and stakeholder enquiries
  • Realising assets and coordinating with agents, auctioneers and valuers
  • Liaising with financiers, lawyers, regulators and other external stakeholders
  • Preparing and reviewing detailed financial analysis, investigative reports and statutory reports
  • Designing, developing and analysing financial models
  • Identifying and resolving complex accounting and technical issues
  • Contributing to knowledge-sharing, best practices and team capability development

About You

You will ideally have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce (Accounting), or a related discipline
  • Ideally a minimum of 3 years’ experience in corporate insolvency or restructuring
  • CAANZ or CPA qualification completed or in progress
  • Strong technical knowledge of insolvency processes and statutory requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters concurrently
  • High attention to detail, sound judgement and strong analytical capability
  • Confidence liaising with external stakeholders including banks, lawyers and advisors
  • A proactive, commercially minded approach and strong professional integrity

Next Steps

If you’re ready to take the next step in your insolvency career within a firm that values capability, accountability and growth, we’d welcome your application.
