Job Description - Investigations Officer

  • $76,873 pa + super (up to 12%) + leave loading
    (increasing to $79,563 effective 1 July 2024) Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 3 of EBA5
  • 9 day fortnight
  • 72.5 hour fortnight

About our opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an Investigations Officer to join our dedicated Local Laws team at Caboolture!

Reporting directly to the Investigations and Audits Lead, you will provide expert customer service and education within our city, whilst undertaking comprehensive investigations and initiating compliance actions to resolve a variety of legislative breaches and issues…investigations will primarily be in relation to dog attacks and Local Law breaches.

In this role, you will engage and communicate with a variety of stakeholders, from landowners to residents and community members as well as internal departments to provide high quality advice, direction and solutions.

Other responsibilities will include providing high quality reports and briefs of evidence as well as representing the Council before the Magistrates Court and Tribunals as required. 

About you

We are seeking an Investigations Officer who has experience in undertaking investigations that have required significant application, interpretation and enforcement of legislation (Local Laws and State Legislation).

You will have effective time management skills and decision-making abilities to be able to work within timeframes and deadlines and within a regulatory team environment.

You will be a strong and influential communicator, well versed will representing in a professional and courteous manner, which incorporates our values and delivers service outcomes that meet the needs of a diverse range of audiences.

Whilst it is not essential you are experienced within local government; you will hold a Certificate IV in Government (Investigations or Regulatory Services) or similar discipline and have strong verbal and written skills required to prepare and represent Council at legal proceedings.
