The Role

Edmund Rice College is seeking to appoint a permanent full-time suitably qualified IT Infrastructure Lead to join the IT College Department.

Reporting to the Director of Information Technologies and Innovation, the IT Infrastructure Lead has a thorough knowledge and comprehension of computer hardware, IT operating systems, software, peripherals, networks and learning platforms.

This position oversees and coordinates a number of technology related projects and functions, including network infrastructure, the management of systems, and liaising and coordinating with a number of external providers to facilitate the smooth operation of information technologies and support within the College.

In addition, the IT Infrastructure Lead provides support to staff, students and parents relating to the College IT environment and systems. Diagnosing computer and software problems, monitor computer-processing systems, install software and perform tests on computer equipment and programs.

The key responsibilities of the IT Infrastructure Lead includes but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee the network infrastructure at the College, including ensuring network connectivity, reliability and cyber security controls
  • Coordinate support and technical assistance in relation to maintenance for infrastructure, systems and procedures
  • Oversee and coordinate the provision of technical Helpdesk support for staff and students, acting as the point of escalation for IT related issues across the College
  • Maintain networking and remote access for staff and students, supporting both Apple, Google and Microsoft platforms
  • Provide workstation and peripheral support, including both JAMF and Intune
  • Coordinate the installation of computers and imaging for devices
  • Assist with the management, prioritisation and coordination of IT projects across the College
  • Assist in the ongoing assessment of technology opportunities and professional development of staff within the IT team and the College generally
  • Support the Director of Information Technologies and Innovation in reviewing, analysing and making recommendations in relation to IT infrastructure within the College
  • Assist with the maintenance of wireless networks and remote access for staff and students of the College.
  • Assist the Director of Information Technologies and Innovation with ensuring comprehensive and appropriate network and cybersecurity measures are implemented and maintained within the College.
  • Liaise with various external providers and stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of information technologies, systems and support within the College, including projects and outsourced services.
  • Assist with IT acquisitions and budgets, providing strategic direction and informed recommendations on IT related matters to the leadership of the College.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Information Technologies and Innovation, provide leadership in developing and reviewing IT policies and procedures, standardising and introducing processes consistent with the current and future direction of the College.

About You

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Experience in managing and maintaining IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, endpoints and cyber security controls
  • Ability to work both as part of a small team and independently
  • Qualifications and/or thorough experience in information technologies
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and suppliers
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility to multitask and respond quickly to changing priorities
  • Expertise in computer applications, including Google platforms, Apple, Microsoft School and other emerging technologies
  • High ethical standards, confidentiality and integrity
  • Commitment to the Edmund Rice values and ethos of the College
  • Willingness to support the Catholic ethos and learning culture of the College
  • Possess a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • A commitment to the child safeguarding principles
