Job Description - IT Project Manager

  • Coordinate IT Projects with Field Services Staff
  • Base Salary of $119,403.39 plus Super and Exceptional Benefits

The City of Marion is in Adelaide's south-western suburbs and is only about 10 kilometres from the Adelaide CBD. 

As one of the largest councils in South Australia we employ approximately 400 employees in our City Services, City Development, and Corporate Services departments and provide a positive customer service experience to our well established residential and industrial areas. 

We have developed and are tracking well through multiple ambitious IT projects that provides our businesses with a single view of our customers, our decision-makers with real-time reporting, and our staff with systems needed to work smarter, not harder. There are now more projects on the go.

Due to a staff promotion, we are now looking to appoint an IT Project Manager who has a strong Business Analyst pedigree to implement one or more projects and contribute to the long-term quality of life of our community through the services we provide across all areas of council.

Reporting to a Senior Project Manager, you will work within a tight knit in-house team and external service providers and manage ICT projects. This will include developing and coordinating work schedules and taking ownership of tasks to meet various project deliverables and milestones, with an emphasis on resolving issues and implementing corrective actions. You may also be expected to jump in and do some BA work as required.

Developing good working relationships with all stakeholders will be key to success in this position as you provide leadership, positively influence teams and individuals, negotiate solutions, and provide a high level of customer service. 

Projects will initially focus on delivering successful outcomes with our field services employees and will include the likes of Asset Management software. You will bring others along the journey to the next level of technology (e.g. from paper based to tablets). Projects will become more diverse over time and may possibly include coordinating property management systems in the future.

To be successful in this position you will need exhibit strong demonstrable experience gained previously as BA and prior experience contributing to successful, large, and complex project deliverables. It is assumed you will have a bachelor’s degree in business, Information Technology, or a related discipline with Project Management certification such as PMP, PMBOK or Agile.

Please Note: Attendance at council meetings will be required from time to time. Some out of hour’s work may be required. A Current Driver's License is required. This position will require you to work collaboratively, attend meetings and/or undertake work within at least three (3) Adelaide Council areas (City of Charles Sturt, City of Port Adelaide Enfield, and City of Marion) to support programs and projects, enhance collective capabilities and to improve community value. This role is initially being offered as a two-year contract directly with the City of Marion with all benefits.
