This is a 5 month contract role.
The Contract IT Solutions Architect will provide enterprise infrastructure and cyber-resilience architecture leadership across multiple critical initiatives. The role is responsible for guiding and governing solution architectures to ensure alignment with enterprise standards, regulatory obligations and future-state capability, with a strong focus on backup and recovery, cyber resilience, VDI modernisation and end-user compute security hardening. The role will work closely with infrastructure, security, procurement and executive stakeholders to deliver technically sound, commercially viable and operationally sustainable solutions.
What you'll do:
Guide and govern solution architectures to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and broader architectural impacts
Define current and future-state enterprise backup, recovery and cyber-resilience architectures
Lead requirements-gathering workshops and stakeholder interviews, translating business needs into target architectures
Conduct architecture and design reviews to validate vendor solutions against standards, requirements and resilience patterns
Perform technical and commercial assessments of vendor proposals, including licence models, support arrangements and cost benchmarking
Provide clear recommendations balancing architectural fit, cost, risk and strategic alignment
Develop service definitions, operating models and future-state documentation
Perform fit-gap assessments to support solution selection and change management
Produce high-quality, executive-ready architecture documentation and decision papers
Lead and contribute to detailed solution design activities, including OS hardening and EUC architecture uplift
Develop integrated solutions across existing and new systems as required
Engage effectively with infrastructure, security, procurement and executive stakeholders
Provide architecture governance oversight of vendor-delivered solution designs
Support enterprise initiatives including CyberVault and Backup, VDI modernisation and OS Hardening projects
Provide architecture support to additional IT initiatives as required
What you'll bring:
Strong infrastructure-focused IT Solutions Architecture experience across compute, storage, cloud, networking and security
Proven delivery of enterprise backup, recovery and cyber-resilient architectures
Hands-on experience with enterprise backup platforms (e.g. Veeam, Dell PowerProtect, Commvault, HPE or similar)
Experience designing immutable storage, isolated recovery and CyberVault-style solutions
Proven capability conducting architecture and design reviews of vendor solutions
Strong commercial assessment skills across licensing, vendor proposals and cost benchmarking
Ability to translate business and operational requirements into target architectures
Solid understanding of RTO/RPO requirements and recovery planning
Experience supporting multi-hypervisor and hybrid cloud/on-prem environments
Knowledge of ransomware-resistant design patterns and Tier 0/1 system protection
Understanding of enterprise governance, risk and cyber-resilience compliance obligations
Knowledge of Essential Eight (E8), AESCSF and related frameworks
Experience designing EUC and OS hardening solutions using SCCM, Intune, Group Policy, Microsoft Defender and CIS Benchmarks
Strong stakeholder engagement and executive-level communication skills
5–10 years’ experience delivering enterprise infrastructure and solution architectures
