{"description": " Who We Are Looking For:
DWS is looking for a true, hands-on Java Tech Lead to lead a high-performing delivery squad working on a large-scale, enterprise-grade custom solution pipeline.
You will lead a mixed, distributed squad of Developers, Testers and DevOps Engineers across onshore and offshore locations, working alongside other squads delivering the same mission-critical capability. This is a highly visible role requiring very strong technical leadership, outstanding communication, and the ability to guide teams through complex, automated change at scale.

Start : ASAP (Max 2 week notice period)
Where : Melbourne CBD
Type: Permanent
Style : Hybrid; approx 3 days per week in office + WFH
Salary : up to $190K pkg (inc super)

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Significant experience operating as a hands-on Tech Lead in complex enterprise environments
• Very strong career history of hands-on Java and Spring Boot development
• Substantial experience designing and supporting microservices-based architectures
• Strong capability with AWS platforms and services
• Proven experience using Terraform for infrastructure as code
• Solid DevOps mindset with experience supporting CI/CD pipelines
• Ability to lead, mentor and uplift mixed-discipline engineering teams
• Excellent communication skills and confidence working in distributed team models
• Experience in the Australian financial services sector is strongly preferred

What you'll be doing:

• Acting as hands-on Technical Lead for a cross-functional delivery squad
• Leading the design, build and ongoing enhancement of an automated pipeline
• Guiding engineers through complex dependency upgrades and security-driven change
• Providing technical direction across development, testing and DevOps practices
• Collaborating closely with other Tech Leads and squads to ensure consistency across multiple teams
• Working effectively with both onshore and offshore team members
• Communicating clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ensuring delivery aligns with enterprise application and security standards
