Western Environmental has an in-house Contaminated Sites Auditing team comprising of a range of professionals, including Auditors accredited by regulators in Western Australia and Queensland and their accompanying Expert Support Teams. Our Auditors are recognised experts in their field and ensure robust, practical outcomes of the highest quality.

Key Services of the Contaminated Sites Auditing team include the following:

  • Voluntary and Mandatory Contaminated Sites Audits under WA and QLD legislation.
  • Audit Support and expert support services.
  • Expert Witness and Litigation Support (Consulting and Testifying Experts).
  • Independent/third party technical review and advisory services.

The Role

Due to recent major project wins and a strong pipeline of work, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Junior Auditor Assistant/Experienced Environmental Scientist to join our Contaminated Land Auditing Team in WA. We are also open to considering interstate applicants looking to capitalise on the benefits of living and working in WA, and those that are willing to work remotely from interstate.

This role will see you involved in:

  • Working closely with Western Environmental’s Auditor as part of the audit support team to deliver a variety of contaminated site audits in WA and QLD.
  • Undertaking comprehensive reviews of technical reports and assisting in preparation of audit reports.
  • Assisting in the internal management of audits.
  • Assisting with proposal preparation with opportunities for other business development.

Whilst the role is primarily focused on audit support work, the applicant would be expected to engage in consultancy work in between audit and expert witness support projects to maintain their utilisation if needed. 

Successful applicants must demonstrate strong technical understanding and skills in contaminated land assessment and remediation including data analysis and technical report writing. 

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science/Engineering or a related field.
  • 2 – 4 years’ relevant experience in environmental auditing and consulting, specialising in contaminated land projects.
  • Methodical working style with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, a self-starter and highly motivated.
  • Working knowledge of local, state and national environmental standards and guidelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to health, safety, environment and quality.
  • Previous experience with project management desirable.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with peers and clients.
  • Must possess current work rights in Australia, such as a valid working visa, permanent residency or citizenship.
