Junior Financial Accountant

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

As this is a Junior role, training will be provided to the successful applicant.

• Support the Financial Accounting and Management Accounting teams as needed.
• Ensure adherence to all external and internal deadlines and reporting requirements.
• Conduct variance analysis, cost management, and provide financial support for mining and production operations.
• Prepare Management Accounts, including Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements, with a focus on IFRS and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure that internal controls and company policies are followed by the team and business units.
• Review major capital expenditure proposals to ensure compliance and assist with monitoring and forecasting capital expenditure spending.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As you progress in this role, your responsibilities will evolve to include the following:

• Assist with month-end financial reporting tasks, including maintaining the general ledger in the ERP system, and performing balance sheet and analytical reviews.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting schedules.
• Support balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain the integrity of the fixed asset register.
• Assist with cash flow planning and other treasury-related operations.
• Control the debtors ledger, manage debt collection, and prepare monthly debtors reports.
•  Oversee and complete bank reconciliations on a monthly basis.
• Collaborate with the team during the external audit process.
• Assist in the preparation of FBT, BAS, and VAT returns, ensuring tax compliance in applicable jurisdictions.
• Manage tax compliance related to company income tax and other tax matters.
• Be an integral part of the Finance team, providing additional support as required.
• Assist with quarterly forecasts and budgets as needed.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

Skills and experience across the following would be highly regarded. Training will be provided.

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting or Commerce.
• CA or CPA Membership, or actively pursuing a professional qualification.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian Tax System and its application.
• Demonstrated knowledge of IFRS and its application.
• Proficiency in financial reporting and accounting methods.
• Expertise in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong ability to build positive relationships.
• Analytical skills and the ability to interpret data.Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Highly Desirable:

• Previous experience working in high-performing teams.
• Previous experience in process creation and improvement.
• MBA or other post-graduate qualification.
• ERP Experience, with SAP experience being an added advantage.
