Job Description - Junior Instrument Service Technician

Who are we?

BlastOne is a global leader in corrosion control and protective coatings solutions, with nearly 50 years of industry experience. In Australia, we support contractors nationwide with high‑quality abrasives, equipment, and rental services.

Our Adelaide Instrument Calibration Laboratory supports customers across Australia and internationally, providing testing, calibration, and certification of critical inspection instruments.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Junior Instrument Service Technician to join our growing team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their technical career who’s keen to learn, develop specialist skills, and build a long‑term career in instrument calibration.

Based in our climate‑controlled calibration laboratory in Adelaide, you’ll work under the guidance of an experienced Senior Instrument Service Technician. Through structured on‑the‑job training, you’ll learn how to service, test, repair, and calibrate a wide range of instruments used in the blasting and protective coatings industry.

This is a hands‑on, practical role with strong development pathways for the right person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with calibration, testing, and certification of instruments to applicable Australian and international standards

  • Service, repair, and troubleshoot instruments, progressing towards independent work

  • Prepare accurate calibration certificates, records, and instrument registers

  • Receive, log, and track customer instruments through the service workflow

  • Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant laboratory environment

  • Assist customers with basic enquiries and status updates by phone or email

  • Support warehouse activities including pick, pack, and dispatch

  • Perform local pickup and delivery of instruments when required

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory procedures and documentation

About You

You’re practical, detail‑oriented, and eager to learn.

You will ideally have:

  • A Certificate III/IV or Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related technical discipline

  • Some hands‑on technical or mechanical experience (workshop, trade, or lab environment preferred)

  • A basic understanding of electronics and/or mechanical systems

  • The ability to follow technical procedures and standards accurately

  • Good computer skills and a willingness to learn internal systems

You are also:

  • Methodical, organised, and accurate in your work

  • Reliable, collaborative, and easy to work with

  • Keen to develop specialist skills and build a long‑term career

  • A holder of a current Australian driver’s licence

Previous instrument calibration experience is welcome but not essential – full training will be provided.

Additional Benefits

  • Tailored on-job training with our experienced team.

  • Uniform & PPE provided.

  • Development opportunities based on your interest and performance.

  • Participation in our company bonus scheme.

  • Be part of a fast-paced and dynamic team with a great culture.

If you’re looking to start or grow your technical career with a global industry leader, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note: applicants will be required to undergo a Pre-employment medical, which may include Drug and Alcohol testing, as well as other background checks as part of the recruitment process for this role.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
