Junior Medical Receptionist
Brightwater Paediatrics – Mountain Creek, Sunshine Coast
Permanent Part-Time • 31 hours per week • Tuesday–Friday • Above Award rates
Brightwater Paediatrics is looking for a warm, organised and reliable Junior Medical Receptionist to join our close-knit team in Mountain Creek on the Sunshine Coast.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a family-centred paediatric specialist practice - supporting children, young people and their families, and helping our clinicians deliver exceptional care every day.
If you enjoy working with children and families, thrive in a well-run clinical environment, and are genuinely excited to grow your skills alongside an experienced team, we would love to hear from you.
About the Role
As part of our two-person front desk team, you will work closely with our Senior Medical Receptionist - supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice and ensuring every family feels welcomed and well looked after while in our care.
This role combines reception, patient coordination and administration in a steady but structured specialist setting. The roster runs Tuesday to Friday on an alternating weekly basis - early starts (7:15am–4:15pm) and late starts (8:15am–4:45pm) - with alternating shorter Fridays. Additional hours required from time to time to cover leave.
We are aiming for the right person to be in place by early July 2026, with a handover period before our outgoing receptionist finishes mid July.
Key Responsibilities
• Welcoming children and families and creating a calm, friendly environment from the moment they arrive
• Managing appointment bookings, confirmations and schedule changes using practice management system Xestro
• Answering phone and email enquiries in a professional and helpful manner
• Confirming appointments, chasing referrals and questionnaires, and preparing the daily patient schedule
• Processing payments and assisting with billing and Medicare administration
• Scanning, digital filing and maintaining accurate patient records
• Monitoring and restocking reception and medical supplies
• Setting up consulting rooms and preparing for the next day
• Assisting with weekly social media scheduling (Facebook, Instagram, website)
• Supporting the Senior Receptionist and clinical team with day-to-day practice operations
About You
We’re looking for someone who is kind, reliable and genuinely enjoys creating a welcoming experience for children and their families. You bring some experience and a lot of heart - and you’re excited to keep growing.
You will ideally have:
• At least 6 months’ experience in a medical or allied health reception role
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - warm and professional with patients, families and clinical staff
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to confidently manage a busy desk
• Confidence using computers and practice management software (Xestro experience preferred but not essential)
• A calm, patient-focused approach - particularly with children and anxious families
• A genuine growth mindset - open to feedback, willing to learn, and motivated to do things the Brightwater way
• Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check, QLD) or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
Our Culture
At Brightwater Paediatrics, culture isn’t something we talk about - it’s how we operate every day. We are a small, close-knit team that takes genuine pride in the care we provide and the way we treat each other.
The right person for this role will be someone who lights up around kids, brings warmth and patience to every interaction, and understands that in a small practice, how you show up for your teammates matters just as much as the tasks you complete.
We’re not looking for someone who thinks they already know everything. We’re looking for someone who is genuinely excited to grow into the Brightwater way of working - collaboratively, with humility, and with a lot of heart.
Why Join Brightwater Paediatrics?
• Above award remuneration, reflecting our commitment to valuing our team
• Work alongside experienced paediatric specialists who are deeply committed to exceptional family-centred care
• A supportive, two-person reception team with a Senior Receptionist who genuinely invests in your growth
• Meaningful, patient-facing work - helping children and families feel supported during important healthcare moments

• A beautiful Sunshine Coast location in Mountain Creek, with convenient access and free parking
