The Role:
- Junior Sommelier/Section Waiter
We are looking forward to welcoming a passionate Junior Sommelier/Section Waiter on board in a dual role who is motivated to bring knowledge, passion, and experience to our Restuarant. The ideal candidate will be excited to learn and grow in our business.
The Responsibilities:
- Present guests with wine lists, assist with their selections to ensure a proper food and wine match.
- Cater to guest’s wine needs throughout service, including but not limited to wine tastings, pouring/refilling wine glasses, answering guests’ questions and providing memorable guest service.
- Possess a commanding knowledge of the wine list, a thorough understanding of the menu and how the two pair and a sound knowledge of all other beverages offered.
- Actively work on the floor as a waiter selling food and wine to guests, guiding them through the wine list and making recommendations based on guest preferences and menu selections whilst maintaining a professional approach regarding price sensitivity.
- Ensure that the wine list remains current and that the wine menus are up to date and presentable.
- Maintain wine stock with inventory pars in mind, rotate new stock with old, maintain wine storeroom and restaurant cleanliness.
- Ability to build and nurture healthy relationships with employees, customers, and suppliers.
The Skills:
- Proven Sommelier experience in a fine dining restaurant
- Must be knowledgeable of proper food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Must have RSA Certificate.
- Excellent Presentation
- WSET or equivalent qualifications
- Outstanding leadership and attention to detail
