The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive, highly organised Laboratory Supervisor to manage daily operations in our high-volume laboratory. You’ll lead a skilled team, optimise workflows, and ensure accurate, timely results. In this role, you’ll drive operational excellence, support staff, and keep the lab running smoothly.
Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and timely turnaround of work.
Provide strong leadership, guidance, and performance management to a team of laboratory technicians, Scientists, and support staff.
Plan, prioritise, and allocate workloads to maintain productivity in a high-volume environment.
Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and laboratory protocols.
Monitor equipment performance and coordinate maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting when necessary.
Maintain inventory, manage ordering of supplies, and control operational budgets where required.
Support onboarding and training of new team members while fostering a positive, collaborative workplace culture.
Partner with senior management and stakeholders to improve processes and achieve goals.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree or diploma in Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Supervisory or leadership experience in healthcare or laboratory setting.
Must have experience in Histology.
Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Thrives in a fast-paced environment and manages competing priorities effectively.
Working knowledge of laboratory safety standards and quality management systems.
Proven ability to lead teams, manage workflows, and drive continuous improvement
Knowledge of NATA quality systems, Laboratory Information Systems, and/or PowerPath is advantageous.
Ability to work full-time, Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend support if required. Flexibility on shift times would be required based on business demand.
