Laboratory Technician

Join SGS as a Laboratory Technician, where you'll play a key role in environmental analysis, helping to maintain our capability in testing soil, water, and air quality. You'll conduct routine analyses and ensure the delivery of high-quality, timely results in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

This is a full-time, permanent position ( M-F 10am to 6pm) based at Perth Airport, WA, offering an excellent opportunity to grow your skills with a global leader in testing and certification.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

• Undertake routine preparations and analysis of soil and water samples.
• Ensure equipment and laboratory is kept clean to avoid contamination.
• Assist with data validation for technical reports (on the assigned tests trained as a validator).
• Carry out scheduled instrument calibration and maintenance in accordance with written procedures.
• Assist in receiving, unpacking and registering samples received.
• Assist in the disposal of samples as required.
• Understand and adapt general laboratory QA/QC criteria and NATA accreditation requirements.
• Ensure that safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) is used correctly and when necessary.
• Perform other duties as directed by your Supervisor.
• Maintain and update skills, qualifications and knowledge through internal, external and on-the-job training/courses to support continuous development and improvement.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

• Hold a TAFE or tertiary qualification in Chemistry.
• Have working experience in a laboratory environment (preferably an environmental laboratory).
• Be flexible with working hours and tasks (Monday to Friday afternoon shift 10am- to 6pm).
