Job Description - Laboratory Technician - Experienced

The Role

Catalyst Metals owns and operates the Plutonic Gold Mine in the Eastern Gascoyne region of Western Australia, producing approximately 110koz of gold annually across its Plutonic (WA) and Henty operations, with further growth planned through the development of additional mining areas. As the Company continues to expand toward a 200koz production target, this role offers an opportunity to contribute within a dynamic and growing gold producer listed on the ASX (CYL).

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician plays a key role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and productive laboratory environment. This position is responsible for carrying out a broad range of laboratory duties, from sample preparation through to analytical processes, while ensuring equipment operates at optimal performance to support efficient, low-cost production.

Working an 8:6 / 7:7 roster across day and night shifts, you will be part of a collaborative site team, interacting with underground, processing, and geological functions. The role requires a strong commitment to safety, adherence to statutory and company OHS requirements, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement and personal development.

Expectations of this role include;

  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including jaw crushers, pulverisers, drying ovens, and sieve shakers
  • Operate fire assay systems, including fusion and cupellation furnaces
  • Complete all required pre-start and preventative maintenance (PM) checks on equipment
  • Manage reagent storage in accordance with Australian Dangerous Goods standards
  • Operate analytical instruments, including AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrometry)
  • Ensure all laboratory processes are carried out in line with established procedures
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Basic Secondary Education (Year 10).
  • Cert IV in Lab Techniques (desirable).
  • Current LF high risk license
  • Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers License.
  • Computer literacy with the ability to use Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in gold processing plant operation
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
