Landscaper & Gardener - Randstad

Randstad are currently seeking multiple horticulture enthusiasts for a unique opportunity to work with Office of Australian War Graves in the maintenance and preservation of Official War and Post-War memorials across the Sydney and NSW region. These official commemoration sites will cover civil cemetery's, lawn cemetery's, a crematorium and or Gardens of Remembrance. Successful candidates will be employed on a max term contract of 1 year with the view of permanency following the successful completion of the contract.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Participate in a range of horticultural works including cultivation, pruning, recognising and treating plant diseases and pests.
• Perform duties under limited supervision in remote locations, including working independently as directed.
• Operate plant, machinery and vehicles.
• Carry out minor landscape construction along with minor stone masonry and concreting tasks.
• Operate and maintain necessary systems for recording and controlling computer data input into the WGS.
• Contribute to the planning, allocation and monitoring of team tasks and motivation of team.
• Implement and monitor WH&S policies and procedures.
• Provide point of contact for enquiries from the general public, ex service organisation, contractors and cemetery authorities.

Requirements

• Certificate 3 in Horticulture or similar field (Will accept candidates who are undergoing studies).
• Background in Turf maintenance (Golf Course/Bowls club or previous memorial work) highly beneficial
• Drivers license - Mandatory.
• Must be available for both interstate and intrastate travel for planned projects of up to a week at a time.
• Be willing to work extended hours for pressing projects.
• Police Check must be processed prior to start.
• Computers skills in order to complete admin tasks and reporting.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
