Who We Need

We are looking for a motivated Lawyer with around 1-2 years' post-admission experience to join our Brisbane-based Law team.

This is an excellent opportunity to build your career in intellectual property law with a strong focus on trade marks. Working alongside experienced Principals and senior lawyers, you'll support a diverse client portfolio across Australian and international trade mark matters while developing your technical expertise, commercial acumen and client relationships.

Whether you already have trade mark experience or are looking to specialise in this area, you'll be supported by a collaborative team committed to your ongoing development.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the provision of strategic advice in relation to intellectual property rights, predominantly in relation to the filing, prosecution and registration of trade marks.


• Devise search strategies and draft trade mark clearance advice.


• Manage trade mark filing and prosecution before IP Australia and IPONZ.


• Coordinate overseas trade mark filing and registration through our network of overseas associates.


• Assist with trade mark opposition matters and non-use proceedings, including preparing evidence and submissions.


• Prepare and assist with domain name disputes and file Customs Notices with the Australian Border Force.


• Establish strong relationships with clients by responding professionally and promptly to queries and taking every opportunity to develop an understanding of their business and commercial objectives.


• Accurately record billable and non-billable time, manage work in progress (WIP), and contribute to achieving individual and team financial targets.


• Contribute to marketing and business development initiatives, including preparing articles, participating in client education opportunities, attending industry events and building professional networks.


• Take ownership of your professional development while contributing positively to the broader team culture and collaborating effectively across practice groups.

About You

You'll bring:

• 1–2 years' post-admission experience as an Australian Lawyer.


• A genuine interest in intellectual property law, particularly trade marks.


• Strong legal research, analytical and drafting skills.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.


• The ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.


• A collaborative and proactive approach, with a willingness to learn and build strong client relationships.


• A Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) and admission to practise in Australia.


• A Trade Mark Attorney qualification, or a willingness to undertake the required studies
