Lawyer / Associate, Construction (front -end)

A leading Australian law firm is looking for a front-end construction Lawyer or Associate to join its growing, highly regarded Construction and Projects team in Melbourne. The team is well established and works for government, local and international contractors, and principals.

The opportunity

The team works across sectors including education, health, housing, transport, water, renewable energy and social infrastructure. This role offers high-quality work in a supportive environment, with a clear pathway to keep building skills and progressing.

Key responsibilities include:

• advising a diverse client base, including a strong government practice and major contractors and principals
  
  


• drafting, reviewing and negotiating project documents, including construction contracts, consultancy agreements, side deeds and project deeds
  
  


• contributing to business development
  
  


• working closely with the Partners and mentoring junior team members
  
  

About you

• 2–4+ years’ PQE as a front-end/transactional construction or projects lawyer, in private practice or in-house
  
  


• strong technical and drafting skills
  
  


• a real interest in the construction and infrastructure sector
  
  


• a client-focused approach and a good grasp of the commercial drivers in the industry
  
  


• an independent thinker who picks up new concepts quickly and contributes ideas
