About the Role

We are seeking an experienced civil engineering leader to join a major resources portfolio as Lead Civil Engineer. Reporting to the Department Manager, this is a hands-on technical and design management role responsible for civil delivery on a major iron ore and energy development.

Working closely with a multidisciplinary project team across mechanical, structural and process disciplines, you will lead a team of civil engineers and designers, own technical delivery of all civil-related scope, and manage the client relationship on scope, schedule and design outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities

• 
  

  Lead a team of civil engineers and designers to meet technical, statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.

  
  


• 
  

  Take responsibility for technical delivery of all civil-related elements: access roads, construction pads, bulk and detailed earthworks, and general infrastructure development.

  
  


• 
  

  Manage scope and proactively resolve discrepancies between client and design requirements.

  
  


• 
  

  Promote workshare across offices and coordinate cross-disciplinary delivery.

  
  


• 
  

  Gather data and prepare engineering studies, analyses and calculations to support technical solutions.

  
  


• 
  

  Participate in bid clarifications, evaluations and vendor certification activities.

  
  


• 
  

  Prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures.

  
  


• 
  

  Keep up to date with technical developments and innovation in civil engineering.

  
  


• 
  

  Mentor site engineers while maintaining strong communication with the wider project team and client.

  
  

Key Requirements

• 
  

  Bachelor of Civil Engineering.

  
  


• 
  

  15+ years' experience in civil engineering design within mining, energy or infrastructure.

  
  


• 
  

  Previous experience leading a team delivering projects under a tight schedule

  
  


• 
  

  CPEng status.

  
  


• 
  

  Sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards, statutory and regulatory requirements.

  
  


• 
  

  Familiarity with MicroStation, AutoCAD and 12D – beneficial.
