The Role
Firesafe are looking for a Lead Special Hazard Systems Designer to assist our growing Special Hazards Department in the design of various fire systems. This permanent full-time role will be based in our Head Office in Bibra Lake but may require occasional travel and site visits.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Responsible for detail design drawings of Special Hazards fire suppression systems such as high and low pressure water mist, foam suppression systems, gaseous suppression systems, fire detection systems, deluge and pre-action sprinkler systems and fire and gas detection systems in Auto cad format, Revit Modelling and/or any other software that may be required by our client base.
- Produce fabrication cutting sheets and material list for projects
- Produce shop drawings inclusive of dimensions, pipe heights, pipe supports, cable runs etc.
- Attend and participate in site coordination meetings with the client for projects when requested by the design team manager
- Responsible for the creation of Block Plans, Zone Plans and Tactical Fire Plans for projects
- Carry out hydraulic calculations with Hyena and/ or other relevant software for review by the third-party certifier, consultants and local authorities
- Responsible for the completion of as built drawings
- Liaise with the designated project manager and department manager on the procurement of materials, type of materials to be used a (through site meetings and general correspondence) and the contract.
- Provide relevant project information to the Project Manager on each project as required
- Adhere to company policy and procedures in regard to documentation and files
- Contribute to the preparation of information for project operation manuals
- Attend & participate in internal and external / client meetings as requested
Skills and Experience
- Experience in a similar role or within the resource, Industrial or international sectors highly regarded
- Relevant qualification desirable e.g., Bachelor in Engineering, Drafting or Design, or Fire Engineering
- Experience in reading and interpreting design drawings including other discipline drawings
- Must have the ability to work autonomously, be able to solve problems, find solutions and overcome barriers to ensure the project design targets are met
- Confident with industry related standards
- Demonstrated experience with basic design software and packages
