About the Position

The College of Business, Government and Law is seeking a Lecturer in Criminology to join a dynamic and student-focused academic team. This Teaching Specialist position offers the opportunity to shape the next generation of criminology graduates through innovative teaching, contemporary curriculum design, and meaningful industry engagement.

As a Lecturer in Criminology, you will:

  • Inspire and engage students through high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate Criminology programs, creating impactful learning experiences that prepare graduates for diverse careers in the justice sector.
  • Lead the design, delivery and continuous enhancement of contemporary curriculum, incorporating innovative teaching practices and technologies that promote student success and critical thinking.
  • Mentor and support students throughout their academic journey, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages achievement, growth and career readiness.
  • Build strong connections with industry, professional bodies and community partners to enhance student learning opportunities, strengthen graduate employability and contribute to the College's broader strategic objectives.

About You:

You are an enthusiastic and inspiring educator who is passionate about criminology and dedicated to delivering exceptional student experiences. You thrive in a collaborative academic environment, enjoy bringing contemporary criminological issues to life in the classroom, and are committed to helping students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed in their future careers. With a student-centred approach and a drive for continuous improvement, you embrace innovation in teaching and contribute positively to your discipline, profession and broader community.

You will bring:

  • A PhD in Criminology or a closely related discipline, together with demonstrated experience delivering engaging and effective teaching in higher education.
  • Experience designing, coordinating and enhancing curriculum and assessment, with a focus on creating inclusive, contemporary and high-impact learning experiences.
  • A strong understanding of innovative teaching practices, educational technologies and evidence-based approaches that support student success and engagement.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, industry partners and professional stakeholders while contributing to a culture of teaching excellence.
