About the opportunity
The University of Sydney’s School of Economics is internationally recognised as a leader in economics research and education across Australia and the Asia-Pacific. Combining excellence in both theoretical and applied economics, the School delivers a comprehensive suite of undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programs, and plays a key role in shaping economic thinking and policy.
We invite applications from outstanding candidates in macroeconomics for a full-time, fixed-term Lecturer in Economics (Teaching and Research) position (equivalent to Assistant Professor in North America). Successful candidates are expected to allocate their contributions as follows: 40% to teaching and related activities, 40% to research, and 20% to governance, leadership, and engagement.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
engage in high quality research and scholarship
deliver high quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, integrating cutting edge research and scholarship into the curriculum to enrich student learning
create engaging, inclusive learning environments that reflect the University’s commitment to excellence in education and student experience
About you
a PhD in Economics or a closely related field (such as econometrics, international or financial economics, public economics, or other macro-relevant disciplines)
deep and broad experience in teaching and learning, with evidence by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings
demonstrated success in designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives
demonstrated ability in developing and maintaining supportive and collaborative relationships with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders
a developing research profile evidenced by original, high-quality and independent research in the discipline or area of expertise
