About the Roles

We are seeking two academics to join the Exercise, Sport and Rehabilitation Sciences Discipline, with one position based at our Wollongong campus and one at our UOW Liverpool campus. 

Both positions share a commitment to high-quality teaching, student support, curriculum development, research and scholarship, professional accreditation and academic service, while helping to ensure a consistent and outstanding student experience across UOW’s teaching locations. 

Both roles include a dedicated research allocation; however, the Wollongong position has a greater emphasis on developing research activity and supporting research students, while the Liverpool position has a greater emphasis on teaching delivery, student engagement and the continued growth and development of the Discipline’s programs at that campus.

About the Team

The School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences (MIHS) includes disciplines of Exercise, Sport and Rehabilitation Sciences; Nutrition Science and Dietetics; Indigenous Health; Public Health; Occupational Health and Safety; and Medical Sciences. The School currently offers externally accredited programs in Exercise Science, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Dietetics, Occupational Health and Safety, Occupational Hygiene, as well as programs in Nutrition Science, Public Health, Pre-Medicine, and Medical and Health Sciences. The School also offers a Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Trauma and Recovery Practice, and a Master of Indigenous Health.

Within MIHS, the Exercise, Sport and Rehabilitation Sciences Discipline prepares students for professional and applied careers in exercise science, exercise rehabilitation, clinical exercise physiology, sport, health, and related fields. Our teaching is grounded in scientific principles and supported by practical, work-integrated and professionally aligned learning experiences.

What You’ll Bring

• A PhD in Exercise Science, Sport and Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Strength and Conditioning, Motor Control, Physical Activity and Health, Rehabilitation Science or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated capacity to contribute to high-quality teaching, assessment, curriculum development, and student support in Exercise Science, Sport Science, Exercise Rehabilitation or related fields. 
• Evidence of a developing or established program of research, scholarship and/or knowledge translation appropriate to career stage.
• Strong communication, organisational and collaborative skills, with the capacity to manage competing priorities and contribute across teaching, research and academic service within a safe and inclusive environment.
   

Special Job Requirements

• Applicants are expected to hold, or be eligible to obtain, relevant professional accreditation with Exercise and Sports Science Australia, such as Accredited Exercise Scientist, Accredited Sport Scientist and/or Accredited Exercise Physiologist, as appropriate to their qualifications and area of expertise.

Role Details

• Employment type: 2 x Permanent/Continuing | Full-time positions
• Level B: $124,928 - $144,275 per annum, plus 17% Superannuation 
• 1 position available at Wollongong Campus 
• 1 position available at UOW Liverpool Campus
• Valid Australian work rights required. Visa sponsorship is not available
