The School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences (EECMS) is leading research and teaching programs across the disciplines of mathematics and statistics, computing, electrical engineering and physics. These programs include maths and industrial mathematics; statistics, data science and actuarial science; power engineering; control & signal processing; materials physics; quantum/high-performance computing; computer science & analytics; software engineering; and computer systems and networks. EECMS contains several major research centres and institutes including the Curtin Institute for Data Science, the Curtin Centre for Optimisation and Decision Science and the Curtin Institute for Radio Astronomy. The Computing Discipline of the School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences (EECMS) at Curtin University is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Robotics/Automation and Cybersecurity. This position will play a crucial role in developing and delivering cutting-edge courses and conducting research in the rapidly growing field of robotics/automation and cybersecurity.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in robotics/automation and cybersecurity, ensuring that the curriculum remains relevant and aligned with industry needs.
  • Conduct high-quality research in areas such as threat and vulnerability detection, intrusion detection systems for cloud and edge robots, and robotic behavioural anomaly detection.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines, including electrical engineering, computer science, and cybersecurity, to foster an interdisciplinary academic environment.
  • Supervise and mentor students in research projects and dissertations related to robotics/automation and cybersecurity.
  • Engage with industry partners and stakeholders to identify research opportunities and potential collaborations.
  • Contribute to the academic community through publications, conference presentations, and participation in professional organisations.
As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered

  • A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated high level teaching skill and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery.
  • A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline and a record of contribution to scholarship in teaching.
  • An established record of research outputs/creative works in high quality refereed academic journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.
  • A history of successful competitive grant applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree research students.
  • Demonstrated experience / capacity to undertake unit coordination role.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position
