About the Role

We are seeking a part-time Legal Counsel to provide expert legal guidance on commercial, industrial, and retail leasing transactions. This role will be pivotal in supporting leasing operations and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and agreements, contributing directly to the company’s success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert legal advice on leasing transactions, including commercial, industrial, and retail sectors.

• Draft, review, and negotiate lease agreements, including Agreements for Lease (AFLs).

• Ensure all leasing activities comply with the NSW Retail Leases Act (RLA) and other applicable regulations.

• Collaborate with asset management teams to mitigate legal risks and structure agreements effectively.

• Act as the primary legal contact for internal teams and external counsel on leasing matters.

• Liaise with external legal counsel on complex lease negotiations and dispute resolution.

• Monitor changes in leasing regulations and provide strategic advice to stakeholders.

About You

You are an experienced legal professional with deep expertise in property leasing and a proven ability to manage complex transactions efficiently. Your strong communication skills and proactive approach will be key to succeeding in this role.

You must have:

• 5+ years' post-admission experience in property law, leasing, or in-house legal roles.

• Expertise in commercial, industrial, and retail leasing, with experience in handling major agreements.

• Strong contract negotiation experience, especially for Agreements for Lease (AFLs).

• Ability to build effective relationships with internal teams and external counsel.

• Familiarity with general contract law (e.g., IT contracts, employment agreements) is desirable but not essential.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
