About the role:
Our client is looking for an experienced Lawyer to join the team as a Legal Counsel. This person will provide accurate and appropriate legal support to the group, reporting to the General Counsel & Company Secretary or other Senior Leadership Team Members.
Key responsibilities in the role:
Effectively execute leasing and franchising transactions as allocated, including negotiation of amendments to documentation with the relevant internal and external stakeholders;
Consult and provide assistance to the group on corporate legal processes: including compliance issues, transactions, agreements and intellectual property;
Consult and provide advice to stakeholders on the interpretation of the Franchising Code, legislation and regulations;
Draft and prepare various written work covering applications, breach notices and other formal legal correspondence;
Represent the business in Legal proceedings as directed, including but not limited to dispute processes or defending claims;
Develop strong professional relationships with internal stakeholders, in particular with the Property and Operations teams in order to influence and ensure compliance;
Operate as a cohesive Legal Team Member to ensure team effectiveness, including overseeing and mentoring the Paralegal role;
Assist in the formation of, and delivery of group presentations, training and development programs;
Maintain current knowledge of legislation in order to provide proactive legal advice to the group;
Adapt and maintain a Service with Heart mindset to all interactions and tasks.
About you:
Minimum of 3 -5 years’ experience working as a lawyer in the areas of property (leasing), commercial (franchising), and dispute resolution (preferred, but not mandatory).
Bachelor of Laws (Australian legal qualification);
Current Queensland Law Society practising certificate, or equivalent;
Corporate and commercial background, with a willingness and demonstrated ability to adapt legal skills to new areas of practice and apply legal skills to solve problems in different areas of law.
Developed people and relationship skills, including the ability to negotiate and influence with internal and external stakeholders.
