About the role:

The Legal Counsel – Project Lead is a mid -level role responsible for overseeing all aspects of contract management and providing strategic legal guidance on contractual matters. The legal counsel will lead a small legal team and work closely with cross functional teams to ensure effective contract negotiation, drafting and management in alignment with WMQ’s goals and objectives. 

About you:

Essential: 

  • Current unrestricted employee practising certificate for Queensland. 
  • Demonstrated experience within the area of commercial law including negotiation, transactions and contracting. 
  • Demonstrated competence and ability to provide clear, accurate and timely legal advice with the ability to resolve individual client needs, complex legal issues and provide positive outcomes. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, control workflows and organise work tasks to meet deadlines and achieve quality work outcomes 
  • High level communication skills including the ability to liaise, negotiate and influence at all levels ensuring clear and concise communication. 
  • High level written communications skills especially in drafting legally sound contracts, tenders and submissions and formal advice.  
  • Proof of Vaccination Status as required by Legislation, Health Directives or WMQ Policy throughout employment and prior to commencement. 
  • Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ policy. 

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and understanding of aged care and retirement living, with particular reference to the Retirement Villages Act (Qld) 1999, Residential Tenancies & Rooming Accommodation Act (Qld) 2008 and Aged Care Act 1997.
