Legal Counsel - Sydney South-West

About the Role

Reporting to the General Counsel, you will work closely with the business, including senior leaders. You will be expected to foster strong relationships with stakeholders throughout the business to assist the business in meeting their strategic objectives and arrive at commercial solutions, while minimising the legal risk.

DUTIES:

• Review and negotiate a range of various commercial contracts and agreements.
• Draft commercial agreements and legal templates.
• Provide ad hoc practical and commercial legal advice on a diverse range of operational, regulatory, and employment matters.

• Assist in managing litigation matters, debt recovery matters, and general dispute resolution.
• Participate and assist in M&A transactions.
• Assist, as needed, with company secretarial functions and reporting obligations.
• Monitor legislative changes and assist with legal compliance training.

• Strong Communicator. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, you can draft review and negotiate contracts and articulate legal risks and innovative solutions.
• Commercially Astute. Pragmatic commercially minded approach to get things done, solution oriented, avid learner, able to generate creative options and think ahead to anticipate potential problems.

• Team Player. Positive team attitude, strong work ethic, and enjoy working in a small team environment.
• Self-starter. Highly accountable you take ownership of your work and need no prompting to drive productivity, change, and outcomes.

WHAT YOU NEED

• Admitted to practice law in NSW.
• Strong contract drafting and contract review skill set as well as a commercial acumen.
• Interpersonal skills to build relationships and communicate with stakeholders across all levels of the business.
• The desire to impact, influence, add value, and champion significant legal initiatives.
