About the Role:
The Legal Manager is responsible for leading the company’s legal function and managing the legal team to support the group’s global financial services operations. The role ensures that the company's business activities, contractual arrangements, and strategic initiatives comply with applicable laws and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
The Legal Manager provides strategic legal advice to senior management and works closely with the Compliance, Risk, Finance, Operations, and HR teams, as well as external legal counsel and regulators.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Legal team to deliver high-quality legal support across the group.
Oversee the drafting, review, negotiation, and management of commercial agreements, ensuring contractual arrangements adequately protect the company’s interests and mitigate legal risks
Provide legal advice on financial services laws and regulations, including derivatives trading, financial promotions, client money rules, AML/CTF, and consumer protection requirements
Identify and manage legal risks associated with the company’s operations and strategic initiatives. Manage disputes, litigation, and regulatory matters, coordinating with external counsel where necessary
Provide legal support for licensing applications, renewals, and other interactions with financial regulatory bodies.
Act as the key point of contact for legal matters across departments, including Sales, Marketing, Back Office, and Human Resources.
Liaise with external legal counsel, regulators, and other stakeholders to obtain and control legal budgets and ensure efficient use of external counsel.
Extensive knowledge of Corporations Law and financial regulatory frameworks
A minimum of three years of professional experience in the legal field
Holding either a Bachelor of Laws or Master of Laws degree
Relevant experience within financial services or legal practice is required
