Join Geelong Regional Library Corporation as a Library Officer at Corio Library


Band 3, $66,533 - $70,765 per annum (pro-rata) plus 12% superannuation


Permanent Part-Time (0.6 FTE)

Geelong Regional Library Corporation (GRLC) is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Library Officer to join our team at Corio Library.



Corio Library is a vibrant and diverse community hub that welcomes people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Working with an inclusive and dynamic team, you'll deliver positive experiences for customers and contribute to a library service that works to create knowledge and connection for people and communities.



About the role


As a Library Officer, you'll create welcoming, inclusive and engaging spaces for people of all ages and backgrounds. You'll provide excellent customer service, assist customers to access information and technology, support library programs and events, maintain library collections and support the delivery of services that strengthen community connection and encourage lifelong learning.



Work Pattern


This position is 0.6 FTE (42 hours per fortnight) and is currently rostered as follows:



  • Tuesday: Week 1 – 10:15am–5:45pm | Week 2 – 10:30am–5:45pm

  • Wednesday: Week 1 – 8:45am–4:30pm | Week 2 – 8:45am–4:30pm

  • Thursday: Week 1 – 9:00am–4:15pm | Week 2 – 9:00am–4:15pm

  • Saturday: Week 1 – 8:45am–12:00pm


The roster outlined above is the proposed work pattern at the time of advertising. Minor adjustments may occur, with final working arrangements to be confirmed with the successful applicant.



Key activities include:



  • Deliver exceptional customer service and assist customers to access information, technology, resources and library services.

  • Support the delivery of engaging library programs and activities for people of all ages, including early years, creative and digital literacy programs.

  • Maintain library collections, displays and public spaces to create a welcoming and inviting environment.

  • Build positive relationships with customers from diverse backgrounds and promote library services within the community.



About you


We're looking for someone who enjoys working with a range of diverse people and is passionate about creating positive customer experiences.



  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Confidence using technology and supporting customers with digital enquiries, public computers, printing, scanning and online services.

  • An engaging and enthusiastic approach, with the confidence to interact with people of all ages through library programs, activities and events.

  • A genuine passion for working with the community and helping create welcoming, inclusive and engaging spaces for people from all backgrounds.

  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to work autonomously, use initiative and manage competing priorities.



Highly regarded, but not essential:



  • Relevant qualifications in Library and Information Science, Library and Information Services, or a related field, and/or experience working in a library environment will be highly regarded.

  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.

  • The ability to speak a community language.

  • Experience supporting early years programs, creative activities, technology programs or community engagement initiatives.
