Machine Operator/Packer

Our family owned Australian Business based in the South East Suburbs are a local food packaging manufacturer and are currently seeking 2 x Machine Operators/Packers for an immediate start.

• Afternoon Shift 2PM - 10PM $32.10

The primary objective of the position of Berhalter Operator/Packer is to ensure that all products are produced and packaged as directed to ensure quality and product safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate the Berhalter and maintain productivity by detecting non-conforming product and equipment problems early and escalating issues to Team Leader.
• Pack all containers correctly as per the published quality parameters with minimum waste and production losses
• Ensure through good housekeeping and personal hygiene that no hazardous substances or foreign objects can contaminate containers or packaging materials prior to packing
• Follow procedures and Standard Operating procedures to ensure that processes are followed to eliminate and risks to defect product or product safety.
• Get printed or non-printed rolls ready for Berhalter operation (from storage onto Berhalter roll lifter).
• Break down pallets/weight material and issue to Berhalter.
• Ensure correct production, quality documentation and cartons have been supplied before starting to pack.
• Escalate any problems with equipment, product, or raw material to ensure the required quality and production levels are maintained to Team Leader, Printing, Operations Manager or Leading Hand in their absence.
• Print labels, be able to set up the vision system for fault recognition

Key Selection Criteria:

• The person must be alert with a good eye for detail to ensure that they are able to detect very small problems and flaws during stamping process and finished product.
• The ability to perform well under pressure *
• Able to read and understand Basic English. (or alternatively, good communication skills)
• Possess good product, systems, and machinery knowledge
• Punctual and reliable in attendance.
• Be willing to learn other positions within the Operations Department.
• Must be able to demonstrate good working knowledge of Quality control requirements
• Must be happy to complete a pre medical - drug and alcohol
