Maximum Term Contract Full Time - 40.25 hours per week - until 07/04/2028  


 


$100,844.82 to $108,050.98  Annually  + up to 13% super  


 


RCC Officers' Level 4 (including applicable allowances)

Join our team as a Maintenance Crew Supervisor (Southern Moreton Bay Islands)


 


Lead with purpose in paradise! In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll guide a dedicated team delivering essential maintenance services that keep the Southern Moreton Bay Islands looking their best. From scenic parks, and open space and conservation areas to vital roads and drainage infrastructure, you’ll coordinate daily operations, manage works programs, and provide technical oversight to ensure our island communities continue to thrive.


 


This role is based on the Bay Islands and is ideal for local residents or those who enjoy the unique lifestyle of working by the water. For mainland-based employees, your workday begins when you board the ferry, giving you time to check weather conditions, review urgent messages and prepare for the day. Applicable travel allowances apply.


 


 


Your responsibilities will include:


 



  • Supervising daily civil, drainage and open space maintenance operations across the Bay Islands

  • Leading and mentoring a team of staff and contractors to achieve safe, high-quality outcomes


  • Running morning prestarts, ensuring crews are resourced and ready


  • Monitoring works to ensure compliance with Council policies, safety, and environmental standards

  • Planning and scheduling maintenance programs to meet service levels and timelines


  • Coordinating island logistics including materials staging, contractors and barge timetables


  • Managing procurement, and administrative requirements to support efficient delivery


  • Conducting site visits and inspections to provide technical advice, verify quality and support safe work practices


  • Building positive relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors and community members


  • Identifying improvement opportunities and supporting a culture of continuous efficiency and accountability



 


Skills and experience:


 



  • Proven experience delivering civil maintenance or construction services to a high standard

  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising teams and contractors

  • Practical knowledge of workplace health, safety, and environmental management


  • Ability to plan and schedule work in a resource‑constrained, weather‑dependent environment



  • Confidence using asset/work order systems and digital tools to manage workflows and reporting


  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail


  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities with a collaborative approach


  • Current driver licence and physical ability to meet the demands of the role

Eligibility:


 



  • You'll hold a current Class C Drivers License.

  • You'll hold a Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision and/or Certificate III in Horticulture (or equivalent qualifications), or significant relevant experience in a similar role and the ability to rapidly acquire a Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision or Certificate III in Horticulture.

  • You'll have a minimum 3 years' experience in a relevant field.

  • You'll have the ability to participation in after hours on-call Roster, and other overtime as required.
