Permanent Full Time - 38 hours per week 


 


$74,555.09 to $77,092.87  Annually  + up to 13% super

Are you passionate about delivering high‑quality civil maintenance work and leading a team to keep community assets safe, functional and well‑maintained? Do you enjoy hands‑on work across concrete, footpaths, stormwater and other key civil infrastructure (Road pavements, drainage, signage, fencing, boardwalks, and rapid response)? If so, we invite you to apply for the Maintenance Crew Team Leader position at Redland City Council!

 


 


In this field based role, your responsibilities will include:


 




  • Leading a small team of Maintenance Crew Members to deliver a broad range of routine civil maintenance activities safely, effectively and efficiently.

  • Undertaking and guiding the team in minor civil concrete works, including footpaths, stormwater infrastructure, kerb and channel maintenance with the ability to work across all areas of Roads, Drainage and Marine including road pavements, drainage, signage, fencing, boardwalks, and rapid response.

  • Using asset management systems to receive, capture and allocate defects for remediation in line with Service Level Agreements and Council standards.

  • Supporting a positive team culture based on cooperation, equity and safety, including the coordination and periodic management of contractor plant.

  • Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with Workplace Health & Safety and Environmental Management requirements, proactively identifying and reporting risks.

  • Performing duties across a wide range of asset maintenance services as required, aligned with your skills, competence and certifications.



 


Skills and experience:


 




  • Demonstrated experience in civil construction and concrete works, including footpaths, kerb and channel, and stormwater maintenance.

  • Ability to work across all aspects of routine maintenance with versatility and confidence.

  • Proven capability as a self‑starter who can work autonomously and lead a small team effectively.

  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to handle operational tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

  • A commitment to workplace safety, environmental compliance and high-quality workmanship.

  • Relevant licences, tickets or certifications that support civil maintenance operations.

Eligibility:


 


Leading Hand Level 6 - Construction


 



  • You'll have a minimum 3 years' experience in the relevant field.

  • You'll hold a HR Licence or the ability to obtain one.

  • You'll have the ability to participate in the after-hours on-call roster, including remote response and site-related operations over weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis.

  • You'll have a certificat II Civil Construction (or equivalent qualification), or significant relevant experience in a similar role and the ability to rapidly acquire a Cert II Civil Construction.

  • Successful applicants will be asked to consent to a police check. Please note that people with criminal records are not automatically barred from applying for this position. Each application will be considered on its merits. 

  • To be eligible for employment, applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.


 


Leading Hand Level 7 - Construction (In addition to Level LHSL6C)


 



  • You'll have a certificate III Civil Construction or equivalent.
