Maintenance Fitter
We are a leading Australian Food Manufacturing facility in the Northern suburbs seeking a Maintenance
Fitter to service and maintain onsite food equipment and machinery. The applicant must be reliable with
a strong work ethic.
About the Role
As a Maintenance Fitter, you will be part of the Maintenance Team. The Maintenance Team provides
support to the Maintenance Operations Manager and Production team by providing quality and efficient
maintenance services during planned maintenance, breakdowns, and the installation of new plant and
equipment.
You will work 7 hours and 36 minutes per day, and your hours of work will range between 5 AM and 5 PM.
• Start Up and Shut Down of plant equipment
• Preventative Maintenance
• Corrective Maintenance
• Breakdown Resolution
• Forklift ticket, hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge an advantage but not necessary
• Equipment Training coaching and support to Engineering team members
• Supporting Equipment research & procurement
• Full -time position, immediate start
• An appropriate trade qualification
• Previous experience within the food manufacturing industry an advantage
• Complete regular machine service and repairs on bakery equipment as part of a planned
maintenance schedule.
• Sheet metal fabrication, good welding skills
• General mechanical fault finding
• Carry out all work safely in accordance with company OHS requirements, adhere to GMP and
HACCP guidelines
• Proven self -motivation and ability to work well in a team or autonomous
• Check operator daily pre -op forms daily and carry out rectification works required
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance checks on plant and equipment
• Respond to breakdowns immediately
• Find and fix faults
• Determine plant & equipment's condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests and
identifying worn and damaged parts
• Correct plant defects
• Verify plant & equipment performance
• Repair and maintain hydraulic systems
Requirements
You will have the following skills and experience:
• Qualified fitter - Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering
• 3 years + experience in a similar role and industry
• Experienced in pneumatic, hydraulics, and MIG welding
• Stainless welding experience would be highly regarded but not essential
• Experience with high -speed production machines desirable
• Complete preventative maintenance tasks and report on the condition of plant equipment
• A willingness to work in all areas/types of maintenance is a necessity
• Strong experience in problem solving, fault -finding, and diagnosing
• Forklift license
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Must be able to work unsupervised
• A sound understanding of safe work practices
• Understanding of GMP and Food Safety
• Reliability and commitment to shifts
• Availability to work weekends and shift work - days and nights
• Attention to detail
• FMCG experience
• Basic computer skill
