Maintenance Operations Manager - Room for Advancement

We are seeking the pre-opening Property Operations Manager to develop and lead The Lodge Wadjemup property maintenance and logistics. 

Locally owned, The Lodge Wadjemup is being delivered by a carefully curated team of local Western Australian talent, featuring world-class Western Australian architects, development managers and designers alongside the very best in food and beverage, hoteliers, culture, tourism and brand and communications - we intend to make a lasting, positive and compelling part of Wadjemup and its status as a cultural tourism hub.

Redeveloping the existing lodge site, the precinct will offer varied accommodation for all types of visitors across landscaped gardens in keeping with the natural Island vegetation. Featuring 109 rooms ranging between comfy bunk rooms through to spacious family rooms with scenic views of Garden and the island. There will also be a pool for our guests to enjoy within stage two. 

Open to all Rottnest Island visitors, at the heart of The Lodge Wadjemup will be Sunset Bar & Dining, a relaxed, Mediterranean inspired venue serving great local beers and wines and The Pelican, a relaxed kiosk that will serve artisan coffee and soft-serve ice-cream. Both will be available seven days a week.  Further amenities will include a multi purpose function and event space, staff housing and substantial back of house operational facilities.

The role includes:

• Maintenance Oversight: Develop and implement maintenance schedules for all facilities, conduct regular inspections, coordinate with external contractors. Manage the daily reactive maintenance tasks in a timely manner to ensure that all inventory is readily available.
• Logistics: Oversee all logistics of supplies, including the management of guest luggage to and from the island in conjunction with department heads and third-party operators. Ensuring that all Food and Occupational Health and Safety requirements are adhered to.
• Team Management: Lead, train and motivate a skilled maintenance team, schedule, and allocate tasks, foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Budget Management: Manage budgets effectively, identify efficiencies to mitigate expenses without compromising on quality.
• Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, conduct regular safety audits, audits, and team training.
• Guest Services: Collaborate with other departments to enhance the overall guest experience, Address guest concerns and feedback related to property operations promptly.
• Property Operations: Oversee day-to-day property operations to ensure a seamless experience for our guests and team members. 
• Emergency Response: Implement emergency response plans for various maintenance and operational scenarios, act as a point of contact during emergencies and ensure a swift and effective response. Conducting regular team training and working with Rottnest Authority to ensure processes are aligned.
• Sustainability: Implement and execute strategies to improve the properties sustainability practices and reduce our impact where and when possible.

A few things you’ll need to have:

• Qualifications in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. 
• Relevant certifications and training in maintenance and property operations are advantageous.
• Proven experience in property operations and maintenance management.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Familiarity with property management systems and software.
