Steelmaking Coal

Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.   In Australia, we operate two open cut and three underground Steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, every year producing millions of tonnes of the highest quality hard coking coal for this purpose.

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Planner to work across our heavy mobile or field and ancillary equipment portfolios at our Capcoal Mine in Middlemount. 

You will be accountable for developing, communicating and monitoring the short-term maintenance plan to ensure optimal equipment availability in accordance with the long-term maintenance plan. This is achieved through monitoring performance against the plan and collaborating with Coordinators, Engineers and Supervisors. In the medium term you will demonstrate ongoing performance improvement.

To be successful you will have the following:

• Trade qualification, Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Maintenance Management, and/or relevant planning experience in a similar setting
• Demonstrated specific maintenance experience within open cut mining operations
• Experience in use of SAP or similar ERP system
• Ability to work with stakeholders from other departments effectively
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, with a particular emphasis on Outlook, Word, Excel & MS Projects
• Understanding of budget and cost control
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
