Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.  In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in Northwest Queensland and Western Australia.

Maintenance Planning Coordinator plays a critical role in enabling effective asset management through the maintenance of accurate budgeting models, SAP master data, and cost control processes. The role ensures financial and systems alignment with Dawson’s strategic maintenance plans, providing the foundation for reliable forecasting, execution readiness, and compliance.

This position contributes to the delivery of Dawson’s asset management by providing coordination and system support across the following areas:

• Develop the Life of Mine Equipment Strategy, Annual Condition Assessments, and Budget Attainability Risk Assessment (BARA).
• Forecast long-term equipment requirements in consultation with OEMs and stakeholders.
• Incorporate changes in Mine context into equipment strategies and capital planning.
• Support capital applications and feasibility by consulting on asset specs, procurement plans, and purchasing processes
• Manage the structure, storage, and access of engineering data (e.g. server, intranet, cloud)
• Provide major maintenance forecasts to Technical Services for inclusion in mine plans.
• Update maintenance strategies in CMMS and ensure alignment with asset master data.
• Support spares determination, cost alignment, and strategic task structuring for budgeting accuracy.
• Conduct or support audits of asset data integrity.
• Assess and complete the Management of Change (MOC) requirements related to budget and data updates.
• Develop and maintain the department’s budget model to support accurate cost allocation and forecasting.

To be successful in this position you will ideally have experience in the following:

• You will need to possess a mechanical trade qualification and experience in large open cut mining maintenance operations.
• Relevant trade qualification or engineering degree.
• Previous planning experience, and a well-developed understanding of maintenance strategies.
• Ability to focus on long-term solutions, ongoing innovation, maintenance costs, workplace efficiencies.
• Knowledge in Microsoft Programs, SAP, Obzervr, Link One and OEM parts systems are highly desirable.
• Industry experience in maintenance budgeting or asset management systems.
• Familiarity with mining equipment lifecycle strategies and budgeting alignment.
• Knowledge of the QLD Coal Mining Legislation and Coal Mining practices.

• Monday to Friday role with 9-day fortnight available
• Full-time permanent position based at Dawson Mine, Moura QLD
