What does the role involve?   


Reporting to the Philanthropy and Development Manager, the Major Gifts Manager is responsible for identifyingcultivating and managing relationships with high-value supporter prospects, securing philanthropic support from individuals. 


Key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): 




  • Manage a defined portfolio of major donors and prospects to deliver agreed income and pipeline outcomes. 



  • Develop and implement clear, prioritised donor strategies that support retention, progression and long-term value. 



  • Deliver high quality stewardship and donor communications that build confidence, trust and sustained engagement. 



  • Play a key role in supporting Caritas Australia’s four priority major donor appeals across the year, attending and hosting engagements to strengthen relationships and drive impact. 



This role will work a hybrid model, including two days in the office per week.   


 


Who are we looking for?   


The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to Caritas Australia’s mission to end poverty and injustice by promoting human dignity for all, as well as a dedication to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching that guide our global efforts. They will have a mix of the following qualifications, skills and experience:     
 



  • Tertiary qualification in fundraising, marketing, communications, business, or a related discipline (or equivalent relevant experience), with demonstrated success in high-value fundraising or relationship led roles. 



  • Exceptional communication, relationship building, and collaboration skills, with the ability to cultivate genuine, long-term supporter partnerships, work effectively across teams, and present compelling cases for support. 



  • Strong data literacy and CRM capability, using insights to prioritise, plan, and track fundraising activity, coupled with professional discretion and respect when handling sensitive information. 



  • Excellent writing, planning, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
