HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly clients living in their home. As a pastoral care volunteer, youâll be actively involved with a local Christian church.
Weâre seeking a caring pastoral care volunteer to provide weekly one hour visits with a gentleman who enjoys prayer, praise and worship, as well as a friendly board game.
He would value meaningful connection through shared faith, uplifting conversation, and lighthearted moments. Your visits could include prayer, discussing spiritual topics, or playing a game together in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
If you feel called to bring encouragement, companionship, and a sense of joy to someoneâs week, weâd love to hear from youâyour time could make a truly lasting difference.
Youâll supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:
* Support people to meet their spiritual needs
* Nurture spiritual development
Skills required for this role:
- High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
- Pastoral Care training for example Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training- Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.
Impact
Volunteering along side Pastoral Care can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.
